Mary Poppins by P.L.Travers
I guess I've been bamboozled by the Disney version! I just read the version printed by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in 1997 and Mary is not who I thought she was. Mary herself is sort of vain and bossy. It's hard to see why the kids love her so much..Except for the adventures she provides them.
Each chapter is a different story. The stories are fantasies involving animals and magic. There was the time she walked into a painting with Bert. Or the time it was her birthday and the zoo animals celebrated it.
So, even though, it is not exactly the Disney version, it is a good book with fantastical aspects to it. It's worth a reread. Hurry up, before she blows away again!
